“Financing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects through Public-Private-Partnership BEES 2014”

The Business Conference “Financing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects through Public-Private-Partnership BEES 2014” was held with the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Partner Country on November 20, 2014 at the Sava Center in Belgrade.

Building on the results of last year’s business meeting, which initiated the signing of contracts and further implementation of projects, the goal of the 2nd BEES 2014 Business Conference to directly connect potential business partners through new business models and provide an opportunity to:

  • Local governments to present EE and RES projects prepared in cooperation with Public Enterprises (Heating, Lighting, Housing …), as well as project ideas for the use of renewable energy in the public sector) across Serbia for which funding from interested private partners is sought through innovative financing models such as Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) and Contractual Energy Supply (ESC).
  • Companies to offer their specific business solutions in the field of sustainable energy in public and residential buildings and associated infrastructure and / or use of renewable energy in the public domain with the aim of reducing costs by applying the latest technologies.
  • To propose to financial institutions sustainable financing models for project implementation and current contracting conditions on the Serbian market.

BEES 2014 brought together over 400 participants from more than 12 countries, and in addition to companies and representatives of over 50 local governments from Serbia, eminent speakers and representatives of top management companies came from the Netherlands, China, Denmark, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Germany, Hungary, Finland …

In the introductory panel, with a constructive presentation, they officially opened the working part of the conference: on behalf of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Banjac, Assistant Minister, on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Dr Maja Djurovic Petrovic, Advisor to the Minister for Energy Efficiency, HE. E. Mr. Laurent L. Stockwis, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Dr. Aleksandra Tomic, Chairman of the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy, National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The work of the BEES 2014 Business Conference was continued in three parallel units.

Over 30 eminent speakers took part in the three large panels of the Congress Hall. There were discussed models of financing of EE and RES projects, efficient use of renewable energy sources in the production of heat and electricity, reduction of direct energy consumption through rehabilitation of energy sources, distribution network as well as public and residential buildings and reconstruction of public lighting.

The Japanese salon was reserved for B2B meetings between representatives of local governments, their public companies, companies and institutions. 157 B2B meetings were held during the day.
Hall 3 hosted a Round Table on Institutional Partnerships to Reduce Costs of Toplane’s Business in Serbia. After an open discussion on Public-Private Partnerships and new partnership models to realize projects and reduce energy costs, over 50 participants, including thirty Toplana directors in Serbia, signed the “By-Laws and Amendments to the Legislative Supplement investments in the Serbian energy system, ”which was submitted to the relevant institutions.

BEES 2014 ended with a formal award ceremony for BEES AWARD 2014 to companies, institutions, local governments and the media that have demonstrated a clear commitment to improving, developing and integrating energy efficiency, contributing to the improvement of energy independence of the Republic of Serbia, including Zeljko Drobrnjak, Director of NS Koncept d.o.o. Novi Sad
